1. Wash your hands with soap and warm water
Avoid alcohol wipes
2. Remove the cap on the lancing device

3. Insert lancet into lancing device
4. Twist off the top of the lancet
5. Replace cap on the lancing device
6. Choose the setting on the lancing device
Try the middle setting first

7. Pull or slide back the lever or end cap on the lancing device
Each device loads differently
8. Remove a test strip from the test strip container
Make sure the end of the strip with the center line faces away from the meter
9. Insert a test strip into the glucose meter
Make sure the side with the small center line is facing out
Your meter will turn on when a test strip is inserted.
If it turns off before you place blood on the strip, take the strip out and put it in the meter again.
10. Push the tip of the lancing device against the side of your finger
11. Press the button on the lancing device to prick your finger
You may need to change the tool setting if you have thick skin or need more blood to test.
12. Touch the blood to the test strip
A normal blood sugar level is between 80-140 mg/dL.
